Faithful Builders: Learning the Steward's Way
Nehemiah Baptist Church's August teaching theme calls believers to faithful stewardship of their lives, time, talents, treasures, and testimony.
Nehemiah Baptist Church has framed its August 2026 teaching around a clear and timely calling: be found faithful. Under the theme Faithful Builders, the church is leading believers through a five-week biblical journey that connects stewardship with everyday discipleship.
The theme verse, 1 Corinthians 4:2, gives the month its foundation: “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” The emphasis is not simply on what believers possess, but on how faithfully they manage everything God has entrusted to them.
A steward’s perspective
The journey begins by recognizing the Owner. Psalm 24:1 points believers to the truth that the earth and everything in it belong to the Lord. Joseph’s service in Potiphar’s house, drawn from Genesis 39:1–6, offers a practical picture of responsibility carried with integrity.
That perspective changes the central question of stewardship. Instead of asking only, “What do I have?” a faithful steward asks, “How can I honor God with what He has placed in my care?” Life, time, talents, treasures, and testimony all become opportunities for worship.
Five weeks of faithful practice
Each week develops another part of the steward’s calling:
- Recognize the Owner — learning the steward’s perspective through Psalm 24:1 and Joseph’s faithful service.
- Give with Gladness — practicing generous worship through 2 Corinthians 9:7 and the widow’s offering.
- Build with Balance — ordering priorities around Matthew 6:33 and Jesus’ feeding of the five thousand.
- Be Found Faithful — measuring performance by faithfulness through Luke 16:10 and the parable of the talents.
- Finish Faithfully — looking toward the steward’s prize through Matthew 25:21 and Paul’s testimony in 2 Timothy 4:6–8.
Together, these lessons move from belief to practice. They invite the church to see stewardship not as a single act, but as a whole-life response to God’s ownership and grace.
Building with eternity in view
Faithful builders are formed through repeated choices: giving gladly, placing God’s kingdom first, caring well for ordinary responsibilities, and continuing to the end. The August theme gives the church a shared language for those choices and a biblical framework for encouraging one another.
